There are 9,000+ stars visible to the naked eye (up to magni- tude 6) in the northern and southern hemispheres. Although all of them belong to one of the 88 constellations, this is too great a number to have a practical use in astrology.
Truth be told, the knowledge about the influence of fixed stars, as well as the number of them that were historically used in as- trology are quite modest. The maximum number of stars whose nature was defined in the past amounts to 200, while practical applicatio of these stars in everyday astrology is most often far fewer.
